Vegan
Our goal is to make baked goods that taste great and are up to our standards. We strive to be as inclusive as possible, so you will find that (almost) all of our menu items are vegan. We have a no-compromise policy on our vegan offerings, so we guarantee anything vegan is just as good as its non-vegan counterpart. As a result, we aim to offer only one version of each product.

"How do I know what is vegan?"

We have a vegan category on our Shop page that makes it simple to find our vegan options. Additionally, all vegan items are labeled accordingly at the bottom of each product page.

A note on white chocolate:​
We are working through our supply of non-vegan white chocolate, but we do have vegan white chocolate! Need one of our white chocolate items to be vegan? Just ask! Please "Add a note" on the cart page, or otherwise reach out to us. We are happy to accommodate.​​​
Gluten-Free
While we also have a no-compromise policy on our gluten-free offerings, gluten-free presents different obstacles than vegan does. Among them is ingredient cost, so even though our gluten-free products are great, they simply cost more to make. As a result, items that we offer as gluten-free are generally listed separately from their glutenous counterpart.

"How do I know what is gluten-free?"

We have a gluten-free category on our Shop page that makes it simple to find our gluten-free options. Additionally, all gluten-free items are labeled accordingly at the bottom of each product page.​​​​

"Are the items truly gluten-free?"
​
We cannot guarantee the gluten-free status of our items. However, we do everything within our ability to ensure no cross-contamination. Equipment and work surfaces are cleaned specifically for preparation of gluten-free items, and these items are prepared in a separate area of the kitchen.

"Do gluten-free items contain any oat products?"
​
Nope! We recognize gluten-intolerant individuals struggle with oats, so we have opted to exclude oat-containing products from our gluten-free items. This extends to the plant milk we use, opting for almond milk instead of oat milk in our gluten-free products.​​​




Our Ingredients
​Butter:
We exclusively use Violife Unsalted Plant Butter. We performed extensive testing comparing a large variety of vegan butters, with non-vegan butter as a control. Honestly, we liked Violife's product the best, even compared to dairy butter.

Cheese: ​

Blue Cheese:
We were shocked at just how much Follow Your Heart Bleu Cheese Style Crumbles taste like real blue cheese.
​
Cheddar Cheese:
After testing many different brands, we chose Violife Just Like Cheddar Shreds, providing. both the sharp tanginess and meltability of real cheddar.
Parmesan Cheese:
We trialed a few options, and the clear winner was Follow Your Heart Parmesan Style Shredded.
Chocolate:
Dark Chocolate:
We utilize high quality 63% Cacao Guittard Extra Dark Chocolate Baking Chips.

White Chocolate:
While we work through our supply of non-vegan white chocolate, all products containing white chocolate will contain Guittard Choc-Au-Lait Baking Chips by default.

Vegan white chocolate is available upon request, and will be our exclusive option once we work through our supply of non-vegan white chocolate. We utilize Enjoy Life White Baking Chips.

Cream Cheese:
​
Our taste testing lead to one definitive winner: Trader Joe's Vegan Cream Cheese Alternative.
​
Eggs:
​
For select products, we still utilize eggs. We buy exclusively free-range or pasture-raised eggs, based on availability.
​
Egg Substitute:
​
After testing, testing again, more testing, some tweaking, then a little bit more testing, we settled on what we consider to be the best egg substitute: plant milk, ground chia seed, and nutritional yeast. Sound like a weird combination? We discovered there was a big problem with removing eggs from baked goods, and this combination solves it effectively. Read more about the Maillard Reaction.

Milk:
​
We utilize two different plant milks: oat milk and almond milk. All items with milk contain oat milk, except gluten-free items, which contain almond milk.

Sour Cream:
​​
​​We use Kite Hill Sour Cream Alternative for a surprisingly good match to the original.
​
Sugar:
​
We use vegan-friendly cane sugar. ​Why isn't all sugar vegan-friendly? Some sugar is refined using bone char.​​​​
